HISTORY OF MERRIONETTE PARK FIRE DEPARTMENT

On May 23 1949 an ordinance was adopted in the village municipal code that created a village government that will be known as the Fire Department.
24 members started the Fire Department and all lived between 113th and 115th streets and Kedzie and Whipples street.
The first fire Station was located at 3033 W. 114th Pl. and the first fire trucks were a used 1937 white truck with a general body built on it and a 1924 or 25 AHRENS-FOX fire engine purchased from the Berwyn Fire Department.
